The 2024 winner was Dr. Hengpei Liao from Strathclyde University, Glasgow for his work “High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) in Cryogenic Environments: Revolutionizing Compact Magnet Technology” under the supervision of Professor Min. The Harry Jones Prize is the premier prize awarded annually by The British Cryogenics Council. It can be awarded to Undergraduate or Postgraduate students for a research project, a Master’s research project, 1st year PhD report or Doctoral thesis from the preceding 24 months. A significant component of the research must include Cryogenics. The prize is awarded by the Chair of the British Cryogenics Council after considering the recommendation by the supervisor and the quality and relevance of the student’s research. The prize is worth £250 for the student. It also provides free membership of the British Cryogenics Council for 2 years for both the student and the supervisor.
