The British Cryogenics Council's Introductory Cryogenics Course to be hosted at the STFC Daresbury Laboratory on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th November 2022 is now taking bookings. The course will be in-person; no remote connection will be possible.

The course is an introduction for those new to low temperature systems, starting from a basic level and building up over two days. The material is aimed primarily at graduate engineers, new postgraduate students, and technicians. Lectures will cover a history and overview of cryogenics, properties of matter at low temperatures, heat transfer, cryostat design, user safety, design safety, and mechanical coolers. Slides will be made available to all attendees after the course.

A coach will run between Warrington Central train station and Daresbury Lab on both days. The coach will be marked “BCC Cryogenics Course / Daresbury Laboratory”. This will be leaving from outside the train station at 10:00 on Wednesday 23rd Nov and returning to the station at approximately 18:00. On Thursday 24th Nov, the coach will leave from outside the station at 08:00 and return at approximately 16:00. There is no need to book a place on the coach, although we would ask that you arrive in good time.
