BCC Advanced Course - Save the date!
The British Cryogenics Council is organising an in-person Advanced Cryogenics Course on 6th-8th October 2026 at the UKRI-STFC Daresbury Laboratory in Cheshire.
Following a fallow year in 2025, the course is a follow-on from the Introductory Course held at Cosener’s House in October 2024, and is for engineers and scientists with some experience of low temperature systems.
Lectures will cover a broad range of topics including:
- Cryostat operations
- Multi-layer insulation
- Instrumentation
- High Voltage Engineering at low temperatures
- Software
- Pipework
- Industrial cryogenics
- Helium production, liquefaction and storage
- Cryogenics at large scale research facilities
- Ultralow temperatures
- Cryogenics for quantum technology
- Cryogenics for astrophysics
Registration will open soon, but for now please mark your calendars.

We are developing a new programme of specialist training courses for 2026, designed to support technicians, researchers and organisations working across the cryogenic sector. These courses will focus on practical skills, industry standards, safety, and emerging technologies, offering both introductory and advanced options. Full details will be released in the coming months, and we look forward to helping you build the knowledge and confidence needed to work safely and effectively with cryogenic systems.
