Rankine 2020 - Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation -  CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - SEE BELOW

Celebrating the legacy of William Rankine

The Institute of Refrigeration is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Rankine 2020 - Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation Conference. Timed to coincide with the bi-centenary of the birth of William Rankine. It will mark the legacy of WJM Rankine whose name is now synonymous with power generation cycles. The event is being organised in association with the Knowledge Center Organic Rankine Cycle.

Why should you attend?

The first international conference bringing together the disciplines of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP) to encourage the flow of ideas between the two fields. It will provide a forum to discuss the shared environmental challenges being faced, the solutions being proposed and the difficulties in choosing the most efficient working fluids.

In an era where there is increasing demand for energy while at the same time fossil fuels are being phased out, Rankine’s power generation cycles will only become more important. While William Rankine would recognise the underlying science that is currently in use the application of his technology is vastly different. This conference will spend time exploring the legacy of William Rankine, looking at his ground-breaking research to see what modern engineering can learn from this great Victorian innovator. It will also look to the future and offer a forum where the different disciplines of power generation, refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps can come together to discuss their common challenges and learn from each other about the different solutions that are being developed to tackled them.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The International IIR  Rankine 2020 Conference - Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation is now accepting abstracts

Visit www.rankine2020.com  to find out how to submit your abstract.

The Institute of Refrigeration has issued a call for abstracts for the IIR International Rankine 2020 Conference - Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation.  This conference will take place at the University of Glasgow, Scotland on the 26th, 27th 28th and 29th July 2020 and will include a celebration of the life and legacy of William Rankine.

This is the first conference to bring together the disciplines of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP). The event will attract an international audience of researchers and industrialists. It will address critical issues for the future and will encourage the flow of ideas between the two closely related fields. It will provide a forum to discuss the shared environmental challenges being faced, the solutions being proposed and the difficulties in choosing the most efficient working fluids.

The conference programmes will feature three themes:

Cooling and Heating will focus on refrigeration systems with the reverse Rankine cycle. It will explore topics including compressors, heat transfer and exchanger, system/cycle design and optimisation, novel applications and system simulation.

Power generation will explore systems using organic fluids. The conference would especially welcome papers that compare organic Rankine cycle against other power generation applications. Themes will include expanders, heat transfer and exchangers, system/ cycle design and optimisation, novel applications and system simulation. Steam power generation will not be suitable for the programme unless in the context of organic Rankine cycle.

Working Fluids will explore new fluids, fluid blend, environmental impact, performance analysis and comparison. The conference will accept abstracts dealing both natural working fluids and fluorine based refrigerants.

The event is expected to attract 300 delegates and 120 technical papers. Discounted registration for authors and students for this four day conference is available.

Full details of how to submit abstracts and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.rankine2020.com. The deadline for abstract submission is 13th September 2019.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship packages will be available for companies who wish to raise their profile in this sector and take advantage of the international exposure this event will attract.  Details to follow.

Who should attend

End Users , component manufactures, senior representatives of engineering, marketing and product development, Innovation leaders, professors, researchers, teachers, students, system and equipment designers, equipment and system buyers, professional engineers, production and operation managers, and policy makers.

IIR Commissions

The Conference will be supported by relevant IIR commissions and will incorporate Commissions IIR Commissions: B1, B2,  D1, D2, E1 and E2 and Working Group meetings.
